Police Arrest Suspected Osun Banks Robbers, Recover N7m, Ammunitions (Photos)

robbed three commercial banks in
Ikirun town in the state last Friday.
Items recovered from the suspects
include over seven million Naira
cash, three AK 47 rifles, 124
ammunition, one assault rifle with 12
rounds of live ammunition and a

Car Kills Mechanic, Throws Him Off Obalende Bridge (Graphic Photo)

Tragedy occurred on Obalende Bridge on Saturday at about 4pm when a fast moving Kia saloon car with plate number JJJ 537 DP crushed a mechanic, identified simply as Waidi to death and threw him off the bridge. The victim’s body, it was learnt, landed in a residential area under the bridge with broken head and legs. When P.M.NEWS correspondent arrived the scene at about 4.25pm huge crowd had gathered on the Obalende bridge trying to catch a glimse of the scene, while the police from the Lion Building Division and the officials of the ambulance section of the Lagos Island General Hospital were also seen evacuating the corpse of the victim into a van with registration number SMK 302 BK to the mortuary.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, were around to control the heavy traffic that had built up on the bridge. An eyewitness informed our correspondent that the accident occurred when the victim, a resident of Bariga area of Lagos drop off a bus atop the Obalende bridge and dashed across the road to the other side to continue his journey, unknown to him that a fast moving car was approaching. According to a motorist, Solomon Ikhide, “dropping picking up of passengers by bus drivers has been causing fatal accidents on the bridge daily.

“Though the police at the Lion Building Division led by the DPO in charge, CSP Antonia Tanaruno and the LASTMAastma officials at Olowu have been doing their best to dislodge the drivers, I am now appealing to the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation, SP Olubukola Abe to please deploy his men atop the Obalende bride to assist the police stop illegal loading of passengers to prevent accidents and the untimely deaths on the bridge.” Another eyewitness, Mr Jude Eshiet, said accidents have claimed the lives of more than ten passengers on the bridge this year alone. “Security officials should henceforth not allow the death toll to continue and any driver arrested there loading or dropping passengers should be charged to court to serve as a deterrent to others,” Eshiet said. Efforts made to contact the Task Force Chairman for comment was frustrated by the Unit’s PRO.

See What They Did To A Thief Caught Yesterday In Awka, Anambra (Photos)

The incident was narrated by a Corps
member Jide Kol. According to
him,the thief in question robbed him
of his expensive items in December
and was caught yesterday by vigilante
in Awka, Anambra state.

Sometimes in December, a thief came
to our residence and made away with
my #Legendary HP laptop, a
BlackBerry Q5, PlayStation 2 and one
iPad, angry and furious, I threatened
to tie the thief if caught, strike him
with a machete if caught and beat
him dead. . .
Today he was caught in the area, at
about 2:30am, jungle justice preps,
human asun on point as you would
think, asun equipments bursting out
(matches, kondo, firewood, ropes,
knives to mention a few) but
somehow I found myself praying and
wishing the Nigerian Police, civil
defense, Man o war, or even Igbo
speaking corps members would help
save the idiot from being roasted,
toasted, grilled, fried, boiled or fired
(literally), . .
The handsome brave idiot met his
Waterloo, he was caught by a vigilant
barrister (@ least that’s what they
call the tailor that caught him), the
dog that raised the alarm had not
been fed nor taken for a walk in a
long time (the dog just dey bark with
vex) and the shop he bursted was
owned by one Oga of police pikin. . .
For the first time the arrival of the
police gave me peace, even though
they didn’t come with handcuffs,
improvised hand and leg cuffs was on
point already, trust Nigerians, even
though they were asking silly
questions which almost provoked the
potential perpetrators (where him
phone?), they sha came on time and
the people in Awka south listened and
obeyed the law as they handed him
over. . .
So because of our porous judicial
system, I figured This dude might be
in awaiting trial for like 15 years or
20, he should be in his late 20’s by
now, so by the time he is 47 they will
now sentence him to 20 years
imprisonment with hard labour, just
thinking aloud though. . .
We can now sleep, but him no go fit
return our my laptop, anyways its
OK, I forgive am one time Amen! God

God Wants Tinubu To Shun Elective Office & He Will Lift Him Higher – Prophet

Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway Residents Cry Out As Oke-Odo Pedestrian Bridge Turns Love Nest

In spite of the pedestrian bridge at the
Ile-Epo market axis on the Lagos/
Abeokuta Expressway, residents of
Oke-Odo have continued to risk their
lives by dashing across the road.
The development has led to many
deaths as fast moving vehicles crush
people who failed to adhere to
warnings against crossing the
expressway.
Some of the residents who spoke to
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
on Saturday in Lagos said the facility
had been converted into a meeting
spot for lovers who use the bridge as
a rendezvous of sorts.
They also said that hoodlums in the
area have also taken advantage of the
location of the bridge to perpetrate
acts of illegality on pedestrians using
the bridge.
Some of them complained about their
helth conditions, including age and
rheumatic pains which prevented
them from being able to climb the
bridge.
The development, they said had made
some residents, especially those with
children to dash across the road,
instead of using the bridge that was
meant for their safety and well being.
NAN reports that complaints from the
residents to the authorities have
prompted the police to increase its
surveillance at day and night to
ensure law and order in the locality
But in spite of the restoration of order
by law enforcement agents, some
pedestrians still preferred to dash
across the road, instead of using the
facility.
A trader, Mrs Olabisi Adeogun, told
NAN that the reason why she was not
using the bridge was because of her
physical condition.
“I don’t have the strength to climb
this bridge, I prefer to walk across the
road which is easier for me,’’ she
said.
On his part, Mr Daniel Udoye, a
banker, told NAN that he preferred to
cross the road at night for safety
reasons.
He, however, urged the government to
light up the pedestrian bridge at night
to assure would be users of their
safety when they pass through bridge
at night.
“By so doing we can comfortably use
the bridge without any fear,’’ he
added.
Mrs Adebimpe Adeoye, a business
woman, said that she avoided the
bridge because of the acts of
immorality that was been perpetrated
by the itinerant lovers on the bridge.
“When I leave my shop every day, I
pass through the bridge with my
children.
“I do not want my children to learn
bad things from what they see these
young girls and boys do on the bridge.
“And it also a big risk for me to take
my children across the express
because we have fast moving vehicles
there.
“The government has given us the
bridge to save our lives and not to
destroy it, so they need to intensify
their surveillance in this area
especially on the bridge,’’ she said.
NAN reports that officials of Kick
Against Indiscipline (KAI) said they
had arrested over 7,000 persons for
crossing the road instead of using the
pedestrian bridge.
KAI’s Public Relations Officer, Mr
Tunde Olusesi, also told NAN that up
to 30 defaulters are arrested on a
daily basis.
“Pedestrian bridges are built to save
lives, people should try and protect
themselves by using the pedestrian
bridge,’’ he said.
According to him, KAI officials will
continue to arrest erring members of
the public until they imbibe the act of
using the pedestrian that was
constructed for their safety
