Nigerian school produces 100 pilots in 5 years

The Rector of the college, Capt. Abdul Abdulkareem disclosed this during a media interview on Monday in Ilorin.
Abdulkareem, who conducted journalists on tour of facilities at the institution, said that the school had come a long way and achieved so much within a short period of existence.
According to him, the products of the college are now engaged by various airline operators in the country and beyond.
The rector asserted that IAC remained the only a one stop-shop station for pilots training in the Sub-Sahara Africa.
“Talking about the courses and I want to reiterate it and please quote that IAC today is the only school in Africa that has a one Stop-shop station for pilots training.
“That means both fixed and rotary wing. It has been approved by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to the training for helicopter and fixed wing. We are the only one in Africa,” he said.
Abdulkareem said that the college, which flagged off in 2012, had put Kwara on the global map before the advent of cargo terminal.
He explained that the college could now boost of seven aircrafts from the four it started with some years back.
He noted that the IAC had partnered many stakeholders in the aviation sector, including Briton, Shell Nigeria, Navy Holding, Aero Contractor, to bring enabling environment into the sector.
The aviation expert claimed that the college was 100 per cent owned and controlled by the Kwara Government.
He urged well to do individuals to sponsor students for pilots training, noting that many politicians had done that for empowerment.

Armed robbers attack muslim worshippers in lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 24 suspected robbers who allegedly attacked some residents and worshippers going for a vigil in the Oworonshoki area of the state.

The dreaded guys were alleged to have invaded Shokoya Street and LK Junction in the area around 2am last Saturday, dispossessing the people of their valuables.

A vigil was being organised in the area by the Ramadan Lailatul Quadri when the robbers struck.

According to Punch, the hoodlums, who wielded machetes and knives, also broke bottles on the street and end up vandalising some vehicles.

Several worshippers going for the programme reportedly lost their phones and money to the gang.

A landlord on Shokoya Street, Adegbokun Badmus, told Punch that some of the robbers wore white gowns to disguise as worshippers.

He said, “It was around 2am that I began to hear noises. The robbers invaded the street, brandishing cutlasses and broken bottles.

Most of the victims were the worshippers going for a Muslim vigil. The robbers collected their phones, money and other valuables.

“They also attacked our two security men. Everyone was running for their lives. By morning, we packed not less than two crates of broken bottles.

“The police were able to arrest some of the robbers, but others escaped. Some of the robbers wore white robes and mingled with worshippers. They also destroyed some vehicles parked on the road.”

A local government worker in the area, who gave his name only as Adebowale, said, “When the noise of the security guards woke us up, some residents went out and pursued some of the robbers.

Some of them ran to Onabanjo Street and that was where three of the robbers were arrested on Saturday.

“Some of the robbers came from as far as Ilorin, Kwara State, and Ibadan, Oyo State. They wore religious garments as if they came for the programme.

They tried to cart away valuables such as generators and electronic appliances in the various houses they attacked.

But when they heard different alarms going off, they got angry and began to damage vehicles.

“They are robbers, who disguised as religious worshipers. I have never seen such on this street before now. We want the police to beef up security in our area.”

Police said the guys would be transferred to the State Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further action.

We have rivet and raped several women- Suspects Photos

Members of a threeman gang have told the police in Akwa Ibom State that they could not recall the number of women they had raped.

The suspects specialise in going round Uyo metropolis , using a commercial tricycle (napep)  to pick unsuspecting female passengers before bewitching and raping them.

Parading members of the gang at the weekend at the State Command Headquarters, Uyo , the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO ), ASP Cordelia Nwawe , said they were apprehended by a team of Special Anti- Robbery (SARS) and State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) following a tip – off by one of their victims.

The suspects, Utebe Archibong (29 ), Charles Essien (27 ) and James Etim (24 ), the PPRO said, succeeded because the victim (name withheld ) said one of her abductors pretended to be a commercial tricycle rider, while the remaining two pretended to be passengers.

According to Nwawe, the victim, a University of Uyo student , while aboard the tricycle, was hypnotised and then taken to a place where she was raped several times. Thereafter, the suspects made her to swear to an oath never to reveal the incident to anyone, else she would die.

But she summoned the courage and narrated her ordeal to her roommates in the hostel who advised her to report the incident to the police who swooped on the rapists.

The suspects, who confessed to the crime, said many young women had fallen prey to their pranks.

The suspects said they had been raping for a very long time. Paraded alongside the rape suspects was Christian Ekung (27 ), who was nabbed for planning to kidnap his aunt, Mrs. Mary Asuquo Inyang, a resident of Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Nwawe disclosed that the suspect, who lives in Lagos, came into the state after strategizing with some friends on how to abduct the aunt for ransom.

However, luck ran out on him as his felonious plan was divulged to the police by the same friends.

The suspect, the PPRO added, was going to abduct the aunt and demand a ransom of N3million.

But Ekung denied that he came in from Lagos to kidnap his aunty who , according to him, has been his Sponsor.

The suspect said he returned to the state because one of his friends had told him he had a job for him.
